The establishment of the World Tourism Day

  - At its third session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization decided (Torremolinos, Spain, September / September 1979), the founding of the World Tourism Day, starting in the year 1980. I have been chosen this date to coincide with an important milestone in the history of tourism, namely the anniversary of the adoption of the Statute of the organization, on September 27 / September 1970 .

  - The celebration of World Tourism Day comes at a very appropriate time, ie by the end of the peak season in the northern hemisphere, and in the beginning of the season in the southern hemisphere, when tourism is in PAL millions of people throughout the world .
